Canam Group celebrates the Chinese New Year with USSL
Profile
Canam International exports Canam Group’s expertise by developing and managing profitable partnerships with reputable firms located outside North America that wish to fabricate and market specific construction products in their respective markets.
Canam International currently holds interests in Canam Asia, Canam France, Canam Russia, Canam Romsa and United Steel Structures Limited (USSL) in China, in addition to overseeing all of Canam Steel Romania’s construction operations.
Canam Group’s investment strategy consists in owning a minimum of 34 per cent of the share capital and voting rights in any given joint venture project, recovering the capital invested within a period of not more than seven years and receiving royalties in return for the transfer of expertise.
Canam Group Inc. is an industrial company operating 12 plants specialized in the design and fabrication of construction products and solutions. The company employs close to 3,000 people in Canada, the United States, Romania and India, and has partnerships with companies in Mexico, France, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and China. |

 | | United Steel Structures Limited (USSL)
Canam Group holds an interest of 49% in United Steel Structures Limited (USSL), a Chinese company which operates a bridge and structural steel fabrication plant in Guangzhou in southeastern China. This plant has an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons and relies primarily on export markets. Guangzhou Shipyard International Co. Ltd. is the majority shareholder in USSL. |

Canam Group has a 35-per-cent stake in Canam Asia. Partnering with Zamil Industrial Investment Company, Canam Asia operates a steel joist plant with a capacity of 12,000 tons in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. |

Since January 2007, Canam Asia has been operating a plant with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons in Ra’s Al-Khaymah (R.A.K.), north of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This is Canam Asia’s second plant, the other being in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The R.A.K. plant produces long-span joists, Hambro joists and steel deck. |

Stary Oskol, Russia
Canam International has a minority interest of 35 per cent in Canam Russia, a joint venture with KMAproeyektghilstroy, a Russian firm. Canam Russia operates a steel joist and structural steel plant with a production capacity of 18,000 tons in Stary Oskol, 500 kilometres south of Moscow, in the Belgorod region. Production began in July 2006. |

Canam International has a minority interest of 35 per cent in Canam Romsa, which operates a steel joist and deck plant in Monterrey, Mexico. This plant boasts an annual production capacity of 45,000 tons. |

Canam Steel Romania’s construction operations are headed by the Canam International business unit. Canam Steel Romania was founded in 1998 to ensure the development of Canam Group’s share of the construction market in Romania and Eastern Europe. |
